We have always believed that in life it is essential to both offer and receive a second chance. This principle guides our work every day and has pushed us to support, from the beginning, the project “Fare Impresa in Dozza” (FID).
When it was presented to us, we do not hide the fact that there were some initial doubts. The idea of introducing former prisoners into the corporate context raised questions, not so much about their abilities, but about the bureaucratic and social difficulties that they could encounter. However, three years after the beginning of this adventure, we can say with certainty that the hesitations have given way to profound satisfaction, both on a personal and professional level.
The inclusion of former FID collaborators in our companies does not only represent the continuation of a path, but often also the beginning of a new life. A concrete opportunity for redemption and reintegration into society.
Detention inevitably creates a barrier between those serving a sentence and the outside world, a sort of bubble that vanishes the moment they cross the threshold of prison.
We have observed that, for many ex-prisoners – especially foreigners – the difficulties do not end with their first job. Institutions are not yet fully prepared to manage their reintegration, and many of the daily practices that are simple for most people, for them turn into almost insurmountable obstacles, such as:
– Opening a bank account can become a complex process, between required documents and the distrust of banks.
– Finding a rental accommodation is often a challenge, both due to the lack of economic guarantees and the prejudices of the owners.
– Registering a utility such as electricity, gas or telephone can require a complicated and unclear bureaucratic process.
For us, being a partner of Fare Impresa in Dozza means not only offering work, but also supporting these ex-prisoners on their path to autonomy and integration. It is a path that requires patience, empathy and collaboration with organizations, institutions and other companies that believe in the value of social reintegration.
We are convinced that the experience gained to date will allow us to continue on this path, increasingly improving the reception and integration paths.
Because a second chance can make the difference. And we are proud to be able to offer it.
